Remer Press

Remer, Minnesota

Remer Press is the imprint of author Erik Bilicki, established in 2026 to publish his own fiction.

It takes its name from Remer, Minnesota, a town of a few hundred people in Cass County, on the edge of the Chippewa National Forest. Five of the stories in Erik Bilicki's collections are set there or built on it — the fire tower, Thunder Lake, the shoreline of Big Rice Lake, and a town called Nemen that is Remer with both R's turned around.

The colophon is a pair of ricing knockers: the cedar sticks used to harvest wild rice, bound at the grip. Wild rice is still harvested that way on Big Rice Lake.
